Three days (23 instructional hours)

Training certification course including:

  • instruction in the relationship between 49 CFR and the IMDG Code for water transportation of dangerous goods;
  • identification of dangerous goods, including classification procedures;
  • use of the general index and schedule pages;
  • proper shipping name determination;
  • technical name rule;
  • UN number and packing group;
  • UN performance packaging, including terminology, selection and testing;
  • marking and labelling;
  • IMO dangerous goods declaration;
  • container certification;
  • hazardous substances;
  • marine pollutants;
  • placarding;
  • segregation requirements;
  • and highway and rail requirements for water shipments during surface transportation.

The instruction will focus on the requirements for non-bulk packages in containers. Bulk and intermediate bulk containers will not be discussed in as much detail.
